Depending on a contact's messaging preferences they will receive an email, SMS/text message, Slackbot alert, or all three when a visitor arrives! Individual notification settings can be changed via editing the appropriate contact in the Contacts page.

By default, contacts will receive an email and text message when a visitor checks in to see them. The primary email that is received includes a picture (if you have enabled this feature) of your visitor, their name, with an option to click through to the visitor details and chat options:
