What is a check out button?

A Check-Out Button allows all checked-in visitors to check themselves out.

Your Check-Out button will automatically track when a visitor has checked out and display that time on your Visit Log. Additionally, this button type makes your evacuation log much more helpful, as it prevents your evacuation list from showing visitors who've checked out and left your building. Additionally, you can even survey your visitors on their way out!

Using a Check-Out Button

Start on the Buttons page of your web portal. New accounts automatically already have a Check-Out button, which you can edit. If your account has deleted that button but you want to add a new one, select Add A Button and select Check Out.

You can also add Visitor Fields to ask your questions about their visit, gather information as they head out, or more! Remember to save.

By default, this button will display a list of all checked-in visitors and prompt them to select their name. If you would rather hide that list and have visitors search their names to check out, take a look at our Private Check-Out option!

What if my visitors forget to check out?

If your visitors struggle to remember to check out, we find that a sign (such as "Please remember to check out at the iPad when you are leaving!") can be very helpful. Some clients also edit their check-in Thanks Screen to include a reminder to check out upon completing their visit.

If visitors fail to check out while a Check-Out button is active, The Receptionist system will automatically check them out at midnight. Let us know if you want to turn auto-checkout off, and we'll gladly help.

Want a member of your team to be reminded to have visitors check out? Take a look at our Check-Out Reminders feature!

Have questions or want to chat through options? Click on that orange chat button in the lower right corner to livechat with a member of The Receptionist team!
