Hoping to save power or potentially increase your iPad's longevity by turning the iPad screen off? Turning the iPad off at the end of the end of the day will require you to log back in the next, and, if you use additional features like printing, force you to reconnect, so we recommend keeping The Receptionist up and running at all times. That being said, you can easily adjust your iPad to sleep or dim without closing out of The Receptionist.
Getting Started
To set or edit these settings, start by pressing and holding one finger to the top center of the home screen of The Receptionist app, as shown in the gif below (you can also click this link if the gif does not load). The screen will flip and reveal a few additional settings; select Device Settings. You'll be prompted for your password before you can make edits.
Once you enter your password and confirm, you'll be able to change the brightness and sleep/wake functions.
Auto Screen Brightness
Toggling Auto Screen Brightness off or on allows the system to automatically dim when there are no visitors nearby and brighten back up again when folks approach. Our settings default to 100% brightness when visitors approach and 30% brightness when visitors aren't there, but you can change these settings as you see fit. Setting the minimum brightness to 0, for example, would cause the screen to go entirely black when the iPad doesn't sense a person nearby.
Auto Sleep/Wake
This feature allows you to set specific times that you want the screen to turn on or off every day. If the Wake Time is set to 6 AM and the Sleep Time to 8 PM, the screen will display as usual between 6 and 8 and go dark outside those hours.
Once you've got your settings the way you want them, press the back button in the upper left corner until you're back to your device's home screen.
