Multiple Devices

What if I have more than one entry into my building? Is there a way to tell which entrance a visitor used?

Maybe you've got two entrances into your office, or contractors can enter through multiple doors. You don't want to close any entrances or force everyone who comes in to walk all the way to the door with the iPad. Good news! As long as your iPads are at the same physical address, you can have as many iPads on a single subscription and account configuration as you want, all without changing your subscription price. You'll simply need to purchase the new hardware.

How Do I Use Multiple Devices on the Same Account?

Whether you've sourced your additional iPads through us or opted to purchase them elsewhere, it's easy to get those iPads set up with your Receptionist account.

To start, head to the App Store on your iPad and install or update The Receptionist. Then, open the app and log in with a User's email or password; this can be the same email and password you use on the other device.

Once you log in, you'll be prompted to verify that you're adding the new device to an existing location and name the iPad. You can name it anything (though we advise avoiding any profanity, as that may cause your email or phone carrier to block notifications from us), such as "North Lobby," "Loading Dock," or "Second Floor." Once you enter your password, you can enter a unique Device Name. Once finished, tap the < to save and return to the main settings screen.

Once you've named the device, you're all set, and visitors can now use the iPad to check in!

All iPads associated with a single location/subscription will have identical layouts.

How Will My Contacts Know What iPad Visitors Used?

Contacts are the employees at your business who visitors can check in to see, and they're notified whenever a check-in for them occurs. Our system makes it easy for Contacts to know who's here to see them and which door they used. When Sandra checks in at the "North Lobby" iPad to see Eric, Eric will receive a notification specifying who's here to see him (Sandra) and the iPad she used (North Lobby).

Additionally, you can easily filter by device on the Visit Log by selecting the "All Devices" dropdown at the top.

What if I Want to Change My Device Name?

Moving an iPad that was once at the North Lobby to the loading dock? Maybe your team has opted to rename the Reception Area to something a little fancier? Renaming your device is easy! To start, touch and hold the top middle of the home screen for a few seconds with one finger. The screen will flip to display additional options. Press "Device Settings" and enter your password.

Once you enter your password, you can enter a new Device Name. Once finished, tap the < to save and return to the main settings screen.
